Jumbo bug cupcake and awesome cupcake carriers!!!

Hi and welcome back to my Cupcakes 'n' Cards blog :)

I really hope you have been enjoying this beautiful summer sunshine, although it plays havoc with buttercream when you are transporting cakes in the car! Whilst my yellow 'daisy bug' convertible is fabulous in the hot weather it is just not user friendly to have the roof down when you have a delicate cake in the car, although pedestrians may appreciate the flying decorations!

I would like to say a huge thank you to Nicola and Cerys for asking me to make a giant cupcake recently. It was a bespoke gift cake and I had a lot of fun creating it.

I would also like to share an awesome purchase I made last week in Oxford, in Poundland. My amazing cupcake carriers, they hold 12 cupcakes perfectly and come in pink or white. I bought 2 of each! Oh and I discovered 2 more lovely gift boxes to add to my growing collection for those who choose to give my cupcakes as a special gift.

I am planning to experiment this week with flavours and designs and to extend my creativity to cookies, so watch this space!

Jumbo football cupcake and 50 cupcakes

Hi there,

I am ready to add my latest creation to my blog and it was a very exciting project to do...biggest one yet!

I was asked to make a jumbo cupcake and 50 cupcakes for my nephew's 21st birthday party, as a surprise. It needed to be a red and white theme for his favourite team Arsenal, although they lost on the day he still loved the cakes!

The design was my own and I hand crafted the toppers for the cupcakes. I left them to dry and harden for a couple of days before I used them. A tip to stop them drying out is to lay them underneath a piece of clingfilm wrap on a sheet of greaseproof paper, the shirts kept their colour beautifully too.

The cakes were vanilla sponge topped with vanilla swirls and red and white sugarpaste toppers. The jumbo cupcake has a buttercream filling and topping and a sugarpaste covered base and decorations.

The fun 21 decorations in the top of the jumbo cupcakes are sparklers! And not edible.
